B i o g r a p h y

One of Chicago's hottest DJ's started mixing Chicago style house music in 1983. After 4 years of mixing at various "basement" house parties and making mix tapes for his friends, Phatmike then moved to New Orleans. In 1987 he picked up the trade of mixing rap & rhythm and blues, which landed him a job working in a local club, and DJing dorm parties.
 

Phatmike moved back to Chicago in 1989 and began touring the colleges and rocking Greek parties. Some colleges visited by Phatmike are IIT, DePaul Univ., Northwestern, Lewis Univ., Univ Of Iowa, U of I, Chicago State, Elmhurst, EIU, Univ. of Wisconsin & Ohio State.
 

In 1993, Phatmike was asked to supply mixes for WBBM 96.3 FM radio station. At the time B96 had a show called "The B96 STREET MIX" which gave lesser known DJs a chance to showcase their talents. Thanks to listener response, Phatmike aired over 10 mixes in a 3 month period. The B96 radio show was followed in early 1994 by the Univ. of Iowa's radio show called the "Saturday Night Hip-Hop Show". During the 5 month period in which this show aired, over 35 Phatmike mixes were heard.
 

In the summer of 1995 Phatmike was offered his first BIG party, by the Live Entertainment Group--THE BIG BEACH BASH at the North Beach Club. The party teamed Phatmike with another one of Chicago's Top DJs, Pharris Thomas. Later that summer Phatmike opened and closed a party for one of the Top DJs in the world, DJ Kid Capri, at the "Def Comedy Jam After Set".
 

In August of 1998 Phatmike took his musical talents back to New Orleans and rocked a party at The House Of Blues, along with Pharris Thomas. The crowd loved the musical mixture supplied by the Chi-Town duo.
 

In May of 1999 Phatmike was invited to rock "The 2nd Annual Kevin Hardy Party" in Jacksonville, Florida, which boasted a party at Kevin's House, a beach party & a party at Club H2O. That weekend Phatmike supplied music for over 13 hours.

 

In October of 1999 Phatmike was invited to Indianapolis, Indiana for the famous "Circle City Classic", where he supplied music at Planet Hollywood for a Goodtime Production party.
 

In May of 2000 Phatmike was invited back to Jacksonville, Florida for the 3rd Annual Kevin Hardy Party. Where he rocked along side of Jacksonville's local DJ Dr Doom of 92.7 the BEAT & New York city's own DJ Clue.
 

Phatmike  has also been enlisted to produce mixes for Wesley's Shoes & Apparel, Krew Sports & Belvidere Blues; providing their stores & customers with musical enjoyment.
 

2003 proved to be a banner year for Phatmike. In May, he appeared in the "Hey DJ" section of Plugged magazine which featured one of Chicago's hottest celebrities, Kanye West. Phatmike was rewarded for his hard work in Chicago in August of 2003 when he became a mix show DJ for XM radio. Phatmike supplied "The City" XM channel 67 with 59 minutes of yesterday & today's joints blended, twisted, sliced & diced several times a week.

In September of 2003 Phatmike was honored to be inducted into the Tech.Nitions; the world's most influential network of club and radio DJ's, voice jocks, producers and program directors. Out of 10 possible picks, Phatmike was selected 9th. In May of 2004 Phatmike was nominated for the “Tech.Nitions Midwest DJ of the Year” and the "Tech.Nitions Rookie of the Year" awards.
